Teach Your Business To Fish

business leadership coaching

Thank you for visiting Teach Your Business to Fish.  This portion of my business focuses on what I call experiential learning. People do learn a lot of things in the class room, but I believe that experiences are the best teachers. And as I see it what could be better than catching a trophy fish and learning timeless business principals at the same time. These programs are designed for the fishers and non-fishers alike. Whether you join me on an actual adventure or subscribe to my Teach Your Business to Fish video series you will learn the principles to become a REEL Success:

– Building and Leveraging RELATIONSHIPS

EQUIPPING yourself and team for success

– Instilling a winning and ETHICAL ATTITUDE

– Building LEADERS around you

TYBF’s Sample Curriculum

The best way to learn how to catch fish is to go fishing, so that’s how most of your time will be spent. (Besides, that’s really all we want to do anyway, isn’t it?) But while you’re having fun on the high seas, you’ll also be learning. When not offshore, there’ll be classroom sessions and, of course, plenty of fun. Below is just a sample outline of how a typical Teach Your Business to Fish trip works. The order and specific content may be altered slightly for each destination and to accommodate changes in weather.

You’ll Learn:

  • – Fish everyday like it’s a tournament (Today Matter’s)
  • – Rig different baits and lures (Advertising)
  • – Set your trolling spread (Marketing)
  • – How to communicate when hooked up (Everyone Communicates, Few Connect)
  • – Use of proper electronics and other advanced fishing gear (How to Be a REEL Success)
  • – Eliminate common mistakes (Sometimes You Win, Sometimes You Learn)
  • – Release the catch properly (How to Give Back)

Day One – Everyone Communicates, Few Connect

7:00 a.m. Breakfast at the hotel restaurant, assign boats for the next four days and discuss course

8:00 a.m. Boats leave for day’s fishing

4:00 p.m. Boats return

6:00 p.m. Dinner

7:15 p.m. Day re-cap and topic discussion

Class will learn basic rigging principles: how to choose leader material; how to make good connections; what a proper crimp should look like; which crimps work with what line and wire classes; chafing gear usage; how to use rigging tools; rigging teasers – chains, lures, spreader bars and dredges; tying useful offshore knots – Bimini twist, spider hitch, uni-knots. These connections can be the weakest link in the fishing rig, knowing how to make the strongest connections is of utmost importance.
